‘S M Shanbhag Hegdekar Institute of Teachers Training’ offers teachers training leading to D.Ed. To increase the pool of well-qualified teachers and to expand the educational opportunities in the community, we have established a Teachers Training Institute, which has been approved by the Government of Karnataka to offer courses leading to the D. Ed starting from the 2006-2007 academic year.
Our trustee and Vice Chairman Shri S M Shanbhag Hegdekar has donated ₹15 Lakhs for establishing this institute and the board of trustees resolved to name the institute in his name. Shri S M Shanbhag has also contributed liberally earlier for construction of class rooms, providing laboratory equipments and materials and always a source of inspiration for other trustees.
The college has good infrastructure facilities. It has 3 class rooms. One specially earmarked for teacher student consultation. The class rooms are well equipped with necessary furniture. The college has spacious open air auditorium providing a fine arena for several cultural activities. The big prayer hall gives facility for common prayer and also for indoor functions. There are 3 laboratories, one for psychology, another for science and third for computer. All laboratories are well equipped. Computers are connected with Internet.
There is separate library with reading room facility which serves as a source of knowledge to students and staff. The college has separate ladies waiting room with attached W.C. The college has spacious play ground and sports facilities to facilitate the physical development of the students.
The basic facilities like hospital – Ayurvedic, Allopathy and Eye, STD Booth, Xerox Centre, Canteen etc, are available near the college campus. There is school-bus facility for students and staff for about 10-15kms area. The intake capacity of the college is 50 students.
